Cahbaet is the capital city located in the Northrealm, mainly inhabited by the Normannes. Having been built on a very steep mountain slope, the city and the fortress are easier to defend. Due to its favorable location any oppressors find it difficult to storm the city. Unlike in the Middlerealm, the use of magic is not banned. When you first enter the realm of the North, the city of Cahbaet is inaccessible as the city is currently under siege. You normally get there at the very end of In the Underworld during the main quest.

Districts/Places[]

Proclamation of Independence[]

Background[]

Taranor Coarek disapproves of Barateon's rule over the entirety of Nehrim and, despite Bareateon's continuous attacks, the leader of the Northrealm declared independence from him and his empire. Due to his declaration Taranor and his soldiers constantly strive to resist the chancellor's attacks. Consequently, his kingdom is devastated and at war.

Flags[]

All over Cahbaet there are flags hung up as an expression of the realm's independence. They represent Taranor's coat of arms, the Nord's leader and saviour. In their opinion, without Taranor they would be mere subjects of the Chancellor.

Notices[]

The notice addressed to all resistance fighters can be found on many walls in Cahbaet. It says:

'Since generations this has been our land. Our home. That's why we must fight. Barateon's soldiers rob us of what is ours. They rob and pillage. Take our sons and make them into Chancellor's soldiers. No peace with Barateon.'

People[]

The people of the Northrealm may appear unsophisticated in comparison with the cultured people of Erothin, yet they are resilient and tough, hardened by severe weather conditions. When a need arises they will fight to the last man to protect their land and family. At they same time they are loyal and will always keep their promises. They value bravery and determination most. Individual acts of courage are of extreme value to them. They even have a word, 'Jambora', which refers to the success of the bold and the strong. In Taranor's words: 'The success of the one who dares.'

Notes[]

  • The Fortress and Stronghold of Cahbaet are the same thing.
  • Cahbaet will slowly repair some of the damage caused by the war by restoring houses during the Main Quest. This includes inside the city and along the road. Some buildings and places such as the burnt out city ring and Mortram, however, do not get repaired.
  • After the Liberation quest ends Hanna and Braal’s house is repaired and another inaccessible house outside of Cahbaet is restored.
  • The Guild House and the Big House are restored after The Chancellor’s Fate is completed.
  • Two more houses appear (Cahbaet, Haus [Cahbaet, Vacant House] on the south side, and Cahbaet, House [Cahbaet, Longhouse] on the north side of town) after the Impotence of the Almighty is completed. These are the final reparations of the town.
  • Cahbaet contains multiple free houses that are unowned and uninhabited: Cahbaet, Shabby House; Cahbaet, Guild House; Cahbaet; Big House; and Cahbaet; Vacant House are all free to use when they appear.
  • Cahbaet, House and Cahbaet, Haus are ambiguous as there are two possible buildings it can refer to. 'Haus' in german translates to 'House' in English, which essentially means they both share the same name.
  • Display name: Cahbaet, House: Cahbaet, Longhouse was renamed based on its Editor ID, CahbaetLangesHaus. The ID is named for the length of the house, not because it is an actual longhouse that Indians use.
  • Display name: Cahbaet, Haus: Cahbaet, Vacant House was renamed due to the fact that no one lives in that particular house and it is not owned. This refers to the inn-like house across from the prison.

Bugs[]

  • On one of the loading screens Cahbaet is mispelled as ‘Cahbeat’.
  • The Cahbaet gate lacks the script that the Erothin gate has in order to open it. This means the player is essentially stuck during Daring the Sortie if they are somehow underleveled, and don't have money or good gear to kill a battlemage in the sewers in order to progress with the quest. This also applies to players to who entered Cahbaet early.
